The Eastbourne Carnival is one of the South East's most iconic community festivals - a joyous, colourful parade and celebration that brings people together from across Eastbourne and beyond. Organised by a volunteer-led Community Interest Company, the carnival is rooted in tradition and has been delighting locals and visitors alike for many years.
Held annually on the late May Bank Holiday Saturday, the event combines spectacular floats, lively performances, music, dance and dazzling costumes in a parade filled with imagination and energy. Tens of thousands of spectators line the seafront to enjoy the festivities, with participants ranging from community groups and schools to performance troupes and local businesses.
The theme for 2026 is "Lights, Camera, Action!" - a celebration inspired by the world of film, television and theatre. This year's theme invites everyone to let their creativity shine, drawing inspiration from favourite screen and stage productions. It's all about performance, colour and community spirit!
Entrants are encouraged to bring their ideas to life with incredible floats, imaginative costumes and dynamic performances - whether you're a musician, dancer, theatre lover or movie fan. A public vote will help decide carnival favourites, including categories like Best Community Entrant and Best School Entry.
